Kane Albert C., age 87, formerly of 525 N. 17th Ave E., died Sunday at the Benedictine Health Center. He was born January 30, 1915 in Duluth, MN to Morris Cohen and Shana (Katz) Cohen. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1932. Albert married RoseAnn Feinstein December 31, 1939. Albert acquired a BSC in Accounting from University of North Dakota in 1940. He worked at Walgreen Co., of Chicago from 1940-1943. In 1946 he joined U.S. Steel, working at the Steel Mill 1946-1958; the Iron Mining Division, 1958-1971; and the Fleet Operation 1971-1979. He was in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1943-1946. He enjoyed volunteering as a Junior Achievement Advisor, and at the Duluth Public Library. he was a Board Member and Officer for Temple Israel-Executive Committee for 17 years; Duluth Regional Care Center-Treasurer; United Cerebral Palsy-treasurer; a member of Duluth Newspaper Broadcast Committee (Friends of Communication Center). He was a member of and accountant for the Covenant Club of Duluth, a member of the Upper Mid-West Jewish Historical Society, Temple Israel, Jewish Fellowship Club, St. Louis County Historical Society and University for Seniors. He was a long-time supporter of the Duluth Symphony, Duluth Playhouse, the Depot, and numerous other cultural organizations. Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, RoseAnn Kane; brothers, Mendel, Nathan and Isadore Cohen; and sister, Goldie Cohen. He is survived by daughters, Karen (Fred) Malver of New Brighton, MN, Michele (Richard) Sterner of New York, NY; a son, Jonathan Kane (Janet Mertz) of Madison, WI; and 5 grandsons, Aaron, Michael, and David Malver, Daniel and Jeremy Kane. Service will be Wednesday, 10:30 AM at Temple Israel - Duluth. Shiva 7 PM Thursday evening at 721 Redwood Ln, New Brighton. Burial will be at Temple Emanuel Cemetery on Woodland Ave, Duluth. Memorials preferred to Temple Israel or Duluth Depot Foundation, both of Duluth.
