Martin Rev. J. Orville was born in Seattle, WA, Dec. 12, 1911 and died Jan. 16th at the age of 92. He graduated from Luther Academy and Jr. College, Wahoo, NE, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN and Augustana Lutheran Seminary, Rock Island, IL with a Master of Divinity. Following ordination in 1938, he was called to pastoral ministry at Faith Lutheran, Bellingham and First Lutheran, Clearbrook, WA. Succeeding parishes: Concordia, Kingsburg, CA; Immanuel, Long Beach, CA; Ebenezer, San Francisco, CA; Mt. Calvary, Excelsior, MN; Elim, Scandia, MN. In semi-retirement, Trinity, Lindstrom, MN. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Olson Martin, married January 22, 1994; two daughters and their spouses, LaDonna & Robert Chalstrom, Cheyenne, WY, Andra & Jerry Hamilton, Bemidji, MN; and son, Tim & Jerri Martin of Minneapolis, MN; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. His dear wife and partner in ministry, Elzada Martin, preceded him in death in 1993 after 61 years of marriage. Following cremation, he will be laid to rest next to her in Scandia, MN at Elim Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 PM Monday, Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom. Memorial service 2 PM Saturday, Jan. 24th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom. Memorials suggested to the Margaret S. Parmley Residence in Chisago City, MN.
