Getlin, Shirlee Selma (Paskoff) October 29, 1921 November 7, 2017 On November 7, 2017, Shirlee (Paskoff) Getlin, 96, passed away at her residence in Northridge, California. Shirlee was born in Gomel, Russia on October 29, 1921 and was the daughter of Arthur and Reva Paskoff of Minneapolis, MN. She had three siblings: Reynold Paskoff who resides in Minnesota, pre-deceased by Margie (Paskoff) Greenberg and Edward Paskoff. Upon graduating high school in Minneapolis, Shirlee worked in Washington D.C. She joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC) in 1943. She achieved the rank of Sergeant and proudly served her country during World War II in London, England. Shirlee married Herbert Getlin in Norwich, England while he was serving in the Army Air Corp. Upon leaving the service they moved several times across the Midwest but ultimately settled in the San Fernando Valley in California over 60 years ago to raise their family. Shirlee and Herbert enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Shirlee is survived by her children, Larry Getlin and his wife, Debbie of Excelsior, Minnesota and Marsha Davis of Northridge, California; by her grandchildren, Alisa Gmelich and her husband Griffin of Pasadena, CA, and Brent Getlin of Austin, TX; and by her great grandchildren Holly and Casey Gmelich and Lia and Joshua Getlin. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Shirlee was an enthusiastic collector of antiques, dolls and toys. She loved to travel the world to meet people from all cultures and countries. She was also an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Lung Association. Funeral Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518 on Wednesday, November 15 at 10:30 am.
