Maas, Richard Paul "Rick" 11/8/1951 11/9/2016 Rick was a big man with a heart far larger than the vessel that carried it. He was loved as a son, brother, friend, and a dear husband. Rick was kind, honest, caring, generous, funny, candid, thoughtful, and faithful in his beliefs and actions. Rick was a Vietnam era veteran of the US Air Force, stationed in Turkey. He has enthusiastically devoted nearly all of his adult life to serving the community by mentoring and guiding youth. As a Juvenile Specialist with Minneapolis Police Department over the last 25 years, he encouraged every kid to make positive decisions for their own future. He was a teacher, a coach, and an advocate. Rick enjoyed his motorcycle, beautiful summer days, baseball, music, his German Shepherds and BBQs but most of all, he treasured the people that gave his life true meaning. His presence will be greatly missed; his memory will deeply cherished. He was and always will be one of the really good guys. A life celebration and memorial honoring Rick will be held at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7835 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Park on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 with a 3pm Visitation; 4pm Service; 5pm Reception. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Private Interment. caringbridge.org/visit/rickmaas/…
