Bartel, Gilbert Carl Jan 19, 1925 to Nov. 5, 2017 Gilbert Carl Bartel (Gib) passed silently into his next journey to meet his Savior, friends, and departed family on Sunday Nov. 5, 2017 after taking his final breath with caring staff and friends at the Jones Harrison Assisted Living facility in Minneapolis, Minn. Born in Wautoma, Wisconsin, Gib grew up living on a rural farm. Following high school and the war, Gilbert married Joyce Ruth Nowak of Mt. Morris, Wis. on May 5, 1951. In the early 70's Gib and Joyce moved away from each other and began new lives. Gib moved north. Being a rather conservative personality, Gilbert was fortunate to meet and marry the love and fire cracker of his life, Nancy Ann Beddor. Life had just gotten a whole lot better. Together they cruised, flew, raised a blended family and boated at Bone Lake. Nancy died in 2011. Although dad loved his kids and loved to visit with friends, he loved Nancy most. When asked, what was the best thing he ever did in his life, he said taking care of Nancy for the last 5 years of hers. Gilbert is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; siblings Larry, Elvin; parents Anna and Carl. He is survived by his sister Mildred; children Denise, Kim, Lori (Darrel) and Kristi; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Interment will occur in the Minneapolis Lakewood Cemetery in the spring of 2018.
