Hemstreet, Lyman "Rod" Age 91, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at the Minnesota Masonic Home on October 5th. Survived by his wife of 62 years Marjorie "Midge"; children Tom, Mark (Stacey Crane), and Paul (Jeudi Brealey); grandchildren Amy, Tom Jr., Kathryn, Jack, Joaquin and Gustavo. Rod was born in Minneapolis and was a proud graduate of South High School class of 1944. A WWII veteran, he served in the US Navy Air Corps from 1944-46. He returned home and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1950 with a B.A. in Political Science. His career spanned retail, stockbroker and property management. A devoted father and family man, his passions included skiing, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities with his family, volunteering for Mayflower Church where he was a member, and supporting his son's activities such as hockey, Boy Scouts, and music/theater programs. In his retirement Rod became very active in the South High Foundation and served as Treasurer and investment adviser; in honor of his many years of service to the foundation, a scholarship was established in his name. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
