Januschka, Charlotte W. After revolving around the sun for almost 89 years and at the "peak of her perfection," Charlotte Wangensteen Januschka died October 4, 2017. Born January 2, 1929 in Duluth, Charlotte grew up in Chisholm, and remained a proud "Ranger" her whole life. Her love for the University of Minnesota was unfailing and even in the throes of her dementia, she remembered all the words to the Minnesota Rouser and "Hail Minnesota," as well as her high school fight song! She married Edward Januschka on December 27, 1951. Living in LeSueur for most of their married life, she was known around town for her creativity and flare. Charlotte was an adventurer to her core. At age 30, she traveled alone across Europe for three months. She was a dogsledding fan, a fearless Girl Scout Leader, LOVED a parade and was a donor to the U of M's Marching Band. We will remember her as curious, resilient, creative, tenacious, courageous, adventurous, imaginative, athletic, patriotic, humorous, fun-loving, and a fierce Norwegian. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and RoseMary Wangensteen; husband, Edward; sisters, Barbara Powell, Peggy Mogck; and brother, Charles T. Wangensteen II. Sadly missed but joyfully remembered by daughters, Susan Januschka (George Mount), RoseMary Januschka (Herb Pilhöfer), Coco Januschka (Tom Mathieu); sons, Dr. Charles Januschka and David Januschka (Danna); special niece, Jennifer Mogck and family; beloved grandchildren, Christian Pilhöfer (Elisabeth), Jared, Seth (Elizabeth), Sophie Pilhöfer, Kae; great granddaughter, Anne Margaret Pilhofer; brothers-in-law, Stephen and Francis Januschka; sisters-in-law, Ann Yoerg and Leiha Larson; and many beloved nieces, nephews and loyal friends. Deepest gratitude to the compassionate and remarkable care she received from Inver Glen Senior Living's Memory Care/Willow Cove West and the St. Croix Hospice team. Services to be held Thursday, October 12th at Church of St. Joseph (1154 Seminole Avenue, West St. Paul, MN). Visitation commencing 9AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery (LeSueur, MN). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are preferred to the Little Sisters of the Poor for their work with the elderly.
