Newman Ellis Ann Newman, 61, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at her daughter's home in Minnesota City, MN following a courageous battle with cancer. Ann was born June 13, 1941 in Mason City, IA to Morris and Ellis (Bracken) Laird. She married Alan L. Newman and they were later divorced. Ann received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from DePauw University in Indiana and was a music teacher and choir director in Little Falls, MN and Robinsdale, MN. She had also received a degree in computer programming and had been working for Chemrex in Twin Cities prior to her illness. Ann had been the choir director for Bethany Covenant Church in Richfield, MN where she attended church. Ann is lovingly remembered for her love of music and traveling. Survivors include her two daughters, Elle Newman and Kari Newman both of Minnesota City, MN; two sisters, Moreen Fielden of LaJola, CA and Jo Laird of New Hampshire. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 2:00pm at the Bethany Covenant Church (7121 Bloomington Ave. So.) in Richfield, MN with the Rev. David Kelly officiating. Interment of Ann's body has taken place at Hillside Cemetery in Minneiska, MN. Hoff Funeral Homes Ð Burke Winona Chapel in Winona, MN is assisting the family with the arrangements.
