Melchert, Juanita "Nita" age 76 of Rockford, MN passed away at her home on September 12. Funeral service on Saturday, September 16 at 11 AM at Our Father's Lutheran Church, Rockford. Visitation TODAY Friday, September 15 from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Rockford, MN. Nita was born on July 26, 1941 in Mason City, IA to George and Doloris (Howard) Norris. She married Maurice Melchert on April 30, 1961 at the Methodist church in Belmont, IA. Nita worked throughout her entire life, beginning as the secretary for the Chaska principal, the Hopkins Coast to Coast store and later in her life for the nursing home in Delano. She also received a lateral transfer as an administrative assistant for the nursing home in Long Lake. She was the cook and jailer for Carver County. While she raised her family, she ran a daycare in her home. She was a paraprofessional for the Rockford School District and later became an instructional paraprofessional for the district. Nita later served as the conservator for her parents. Nita was a prayer warrior and had a strong belief of her faith in God. She always put others needs before her own and spent her life taking care of others. She and Maurice enjoyed traveling, going on road trips, spending time in Branson, MO and spending time with family. She had a love of horses which she raised for many years and also loved her Dodge Stealth, her "little red machine." Preceded in death by her parents, George and Doloris Norris and beloved cousin, Gary Taylor. Survived by her husband of 56 years, Maurice; children, Brad (Brenda) Melchert, Marnita (Shane Berglund) Krakau, Brian Melchert, Michelle (Justin Campbell) Melchert; grandchildren, Taylor (Abby) Bove and Cherrie Ann Bove, Justice Krakau, Brandon Dehn, Brianna and Braden Melchert and Samantha Melchert; one great-grandson, Mason Clegg; sister, Kathy (Howard) Bossen; nephews, Colin and Jorin Bossen and Eric Zimmerman. A special thanks to the nurses and doctors at MN Oncology in Plymouth and a special thank you to Heartland Hospice nurses and the home health aides and the spiritual guidance counselor.
