Shusterich, Patricia Marion "Pat" age 90 passed away peacefully on August 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Pat was a caregiver to all in need and never failed to help a friend or neighbor whether it be with her baked goods, a visit, or some manner of caregiving. Pat was confident and loving with a wonderful sense of humor. Her generosity of spirit remained even in passing as her body was donated to the University of Minnesota Medical School to honor three of her grandsons who are in the medical profession. While her children were in school she went back to earn her LPN diploma and worked nearly 20 years in that role. Pat loved her family, her gardens, golfing, walking, and her cats. Her confident, youthful attitude and positive outlook were an inspiration to all who came in contact with her or knew her on a daily basis. She was an amazing lady who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Pat was born on May 24, 1927 to John and Theresa (Klein) Barta and raised in Milwaukee, WI and later in Duluth, MN. She met her husband Fred Shusterich on a double date in 1953 and they were united in matrimony on February 28, 1954. They resided in Gilbert, MN from that date until March of 2012 when they moved to The Glenn in Minnetonka, MN where they resided until her passing. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her loving husband Fred and their three children: Fred (Sheila) Shusterich, Jr. of Duluth, Jeanne (Tim) Pietrini of Chanhassen, and David (Clare) Shusterich of Plymouth, along with her pride and joy, seven grandchildren: Dr. Sean Pietrini, Tim (Elizabeth) Pietrini, Jr., Sam Pietrini, Nick Pietrini, Sarah Pietrini, John (Brooke) Shusterich and Jim Shusterich. Pat is also survived by her brothers Richard and David, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial 2 p.m. on Friday August 25th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert, MN. Visitation at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made on behalf of Pat to the Animal Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice. "The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth; One's nearer God's heart in a Garden, than anywhere else on earth."
