Halter, Betsey (Mary Beth), BSN, age 65, Angier, NC, was born in Minneapolis, MN to Lois (Carlson) and Russ Halter, and died August 17, 2017 in St. Paul. She attended Incarnation Grade School, graduated from Regina High School in 1970, and earned her BSN at the University of Minnesota in 1974. She enjoyed a long nursing career in Minnesota, Michigan and North Carolina. She retired from Capital City Surgery Center, Raleigh, NC in May this year when uterine cancer recurred. She is predeceased by her parents and daughter Marisa; Betsey cared for Marisa through 21 years of leukemia treatment and relapse. Betsey enjoyed gardening, her dogs, photography, counted cross-stitch, and time spent with family. Betsey's intelligence, humor and heart will be deeply missed by son Christopher, Phoenix, AZ; and daughter Sophie (Steve) Helewski and their two sons, Steven and Liam, Angier, NC. Also survived by sister Kathy (Steve) Oakley, St. Paul; brother Mark (Sue) Halter, La Crosse, WI; brother John (Jan) Halter, St. Paul; and brother Jim Halter, Minneapolis, as well as many extended family and friends. Her family is grateful for staff at HealthPartners Hospice, St. Anthony Park Home, and Our Lady of Peace Home who guided us through Betsey's final days in Minnesota. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 25 at 11:30 a.m.; visitation one hour before; lunch to follow. Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul, MN.
