Dye, Robert Ellis Age 81 of St. Paul, MN died on July 21, 2017. For forty years, he was a pro-fessor of German at Macalester College, where he taught language, literature, and philosophy. He had been Presiding Officer of the Faculty and, for many years, Chair of German Studies and Russian. Professor Dye was an expert on the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and served as President, Vice President, and Director at Large of the Goethe Society of North America and as Book Review Editor of The Goethe Yearbook. He is survived by his wife Carol, his daughters Ellen, Marianne, Martha, and Sarah, and five grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral, but visitors at Carol's home will be welcome.
