Goetzke Marjorie (Carlson), age 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2003. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 12, 1:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Silver Creek (Exit 183 off I-94 South 2.5 miles on County Rd. 8 to 127th - 2 miles to church.) Rev. James Tetlie will officiate. Private interment. She was born December 8, 1914 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Florence (Shewry) Carlson. Grew up in Eureka (Excelsior) Minnesota. She moved to Monticello in 1952 when she married Wesley Goetzke, who preceded her in death. She worked for the City of Minneapolis and the U.S. Postal Service at the Monticello Post Office. She was a longtime resident and active participant in Monticello local politics. She was a pioneering woman member of the Monticello Township Board serving as both clerk and supervisor. She was also active in the Wright County Historical Society and Faith Lutheran Church. She is survived by children, Bonnie, Duane, Lester, Gloria and Judy; grandchildren, Kurt (Sue), Vicki (Dave) Armstrong, Irina and Lada; great-grand-children, Jackie and Jennifer; and sisters, Alice Prigge and Pearl Dyer. Memorials to either Faith Lutheran Church or Wright County Historical Society.
