Van Ryswyk Dale Van Ryswyk, of Duluth, born 1932 in Albert Lea, passed away January 1, 2003 in Newport Beach, CA. Dale was a pioneer in the field of services to the developmentally disabled in Minnesota. He started H.O.M.E.S., Inc. in 1972 because he recognized that people with disabilities have abilities and limitations very much like everyone else, and that with training and support, could live more independently. Dale touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by parents, Clara and Peter; brothers, Arno, Les, Paul, Dude, Ray, Don, and Slim, and sister, Millie Westrum. Survived by special friend, Dawn Davidson; sisters, Sis Dulitz and LaVon Beers; children, Peter, Paul, Ann, and Renee, and grandchildren, Jeremie and Griffen. A celebration of Dale's life will be held Saturday, January 18 from 12-4 pm at the Calhoun Beach Club, 2925 Dean Parkway, Minneapolis 55416.
