Swanson, Heather Anne Age 46 of St. Paul. Heather was born with her identical twin and best friend, Kirsten, on August 15, 1970 in Boston. She moved to Minneapolis with her family as a young child and graduated from Edina High School in 1989. Heather received a degree in chemistry from University of Colorado Boulder. A gentle and kind soul from the start, Heather began advocating and lobbying for animal rights at eleven. Heather never met a stranger her incredible friendliness warmed her to all she met. She had a way of making people feel special. She brought humor, joy and amazing dance moves (including an uncanny talent for "the robot") wherever she went. In recent years, Heather loved being with her family and laughing, volunteering at animal rescues, going for walks, fishing at the cabin in Spooner and traveling extensively from the Galapagos Islands to Sweden to Africa. And of course, she fell in love with the animals of every place she visited. Heather completed her earthly journey much too soon for those of us left behind, but is finally, reunited with her soulmate, best friend and identical twin sister, Kirsten, who passed away in 2004. What a reunion it must be! We like to picture them free and at peace together in a beautiful place, by a lake, with all of their childhood pets, surrounded by their loving grandparents and friends who have passed before them. Heather is survived and will be greatly missed by her parents Dawn and Ted Michael and Brad and Ann Swanson, her grandmothers, Eileen Swanson and Marge Michael, sisters Jessica (Leslie) and Bridgette (Melissa) Rongitsch, her beloved baby niece Theo (who adored Heather endlessly) and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A special thanks to her special friends and fun coordinators Jenny Avery and Liz Shields. A memorial service will be held June 27th, 2017 at 12 noon at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Animal Human Society or Feline Rescue. In her memory we will strive to appreciate each day -- to love and laugh more.
