Eide, Ralph Sigurd Age 91, passed away peacefully at home in St. Louis Park on June 7, 2017, surrounded by family. He will be remembered fondly for his generosity, his ready laugh, and his great love and gratitude for his family and his many friends. He led a full and active life, downhill skiing into his 80s and golfing after his 91st birthday. Ralph also enjoyed the family cabin, sailing, tennis, do-it-yourself building projects, traveling, and dancing. He cherished his many years of wintering in Sun City West, Arizona. Ralph confronted his hardships with awe-inspiring optimism, strength, and good humor. Ralph is preceded in death by parents Toralf "T.A." and Laura (Haug) Eide; his loving wife of 51 years Margaret "Peg" (Strohmeier) Eide; brother John Eide and sister Laura Scott. He is survived by Patricia Eide, his loving wife of 13 years; daughter Paula (Tom) Buchner of Roseville; sons Kevin (Kris) Eide of Chanhassen, Stephen (Suzanne) Eide of Plymouth, and David (Ann) Eide of Madison, WI; stepson Jim (Bettina) Knox of Solvang, CA; granddaughters Erin (Drew) Bischoff, Leah Eide, Lisa (Miles) Trump, Bridget Eide, Sarah Eide, Julitta Knox and Manali Knox; grandsons Erik Ortlip, Trevor Eide, Phillip Buchner, and Alex Eide; great-granddaughters Ingrid Bischoff and Annalise Bischoff; and sister-in-law Betty (John) Eide. Born in Minneapolis on January 8, 1926, Ralph graduated from Washburn High School. Between stints in the military, he earned an electrical engineering degree from the U of M. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. A long-time active Rotarian, he was a past president of the St. Louis Park Rotary Club. Ralph was a proud Norwegian. He belonged to Torske Klubben, a Norwegian Luncheon Club that his father T.A. helped to start in 1933. A memorial service will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church, 13000 St. Davids Rd, Minnetonka, MN on Wednesday, June 14 at 11 a.m. with time to visit the family starting at 10 a.m. Interment at St. David's Columbarium following the service. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Norway House (913 E. Franklin Ave, Mpls, MN 55404) or donor's choice.
