Buending, William A. age 82, of Plymouth, MN, died peacefully at home of cancer on May 7. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie and sister Katherine Strey, and is survived by his son David Buending (Candis), brother Norman Buending (Cathy), brothers-in-law Jim Strey and Richard Herman, and numerous other family and friends. Bill's lifelong devotion to service and stewardship led him to lend his talents to a number of causes over the years. In retirement, he took on the financial well-being of the home community he loved, Gramercy Park Northwest Cooperative, working to ensure its future security. He became a strong advocate for senior cooperative housing throughout the region. When he wasn't up to his neck in Excel reports, he was a dedicated fisherman, train traveler, Farkel player, and baseball fan (Twins, Cubs, White Sox). He had a cactus collection which he wryly acknowledged said something about his personality. He loved wit, and was a gifted writer. Bill's life will be honored with a memorial service at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Rd, Hopkins, MN 55343, on Sunday, June 4th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Habitat for Humanity, The American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
