Hoffmann Bernard Peter, ``Pete'', age 84, of Woodbury, MN on January 25, 2002. Born in Henning, MN September 4, 1917, Bernie spent much of his childhood in Minneapolis. After graduating from Central High School, he attended the University of Minnesota. He was an officer in the US Army, served with the 10th Mountain Division, and at the close of the war served in the Occupation of Japan. He resided in Richfield, MN for 30 years and was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. A member of the American Legion, the Scottish Rite, Bernie served as President of the Toastmasters of Minneapolis and was a speaker for the American Heart and Lung Association. He retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas where he was active in theater work and served on committees in the community and United Lutheran Church. He is survived by Lillian, his wife of 56 years; daughters, Linda Peterson and husband Dan of Humble, TX, Berni Ester and husband Mark of Stillwater, MN; grandchildren, Erich and Brett Peterson, Tyson, Olivia and Jenny Ester; sister, Lillian Vukas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial service Friday, 10:00 AM at WOODBURY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7380 Afton Road. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the service at church.
