Benjamin D. Slater

Slater Benjamin D., age 77, of North St. Paul, died Jan. 21, 2002. Preceded in death by parents, Benjamin & Celina; brother, Dick; sister, Helen Evensen. Will be missed by his wife of 50 years, Elaine. Beloved father of Mary Ellen, Celene McGuire (Patrick), Michael (Martha), Colleen Slater (Alan Stombaugh), Jeffrey (Karen); grandchildren, Daniel, Angela, Erin, Meghan and Patrick; sisters, Alice Chaffe, Florence Borotz, and June Borotz (John). Ben (Sonny) was born in St. Paul. He was a WWII Veteran and P.O.W. Served with the 82nd Airborne Div. in Europe. He attended the U of M and worked at the Emporium Dept. Store and later at Honeywell for many years. Remembered as family man, caregiver and inventor. A special thank you to nursing and medical staff at Mpls V.A. Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Jan. 25, 11 AM, ST. PETER'S CHURCH, N. St. Paul. Interment church cemetery. Visitation 4-8 PM Thursday, SANDBERG MORTUARY, 7th Ave & Charles St., N. St. Paul.
