McLain William P., age 81, of Eden Prairie, MN, passed away at Castle Ridge Care Center on Jan. 8 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in St. Paul, MN, son of David & Nan McLain. He graduated from Central High School, St. Paul. He is survived by his loving wife, Viola (Vi), of 59 years; sons, Robert (Kathy) McLain, Chaska, Timothy (Debra) McLain, Apple Valley; grandchildren, Bryan (Shawna) McLain, Red Wing, Heather (Jon) Gillund, Savage, Nicholas (Leslie) McLain, Farmington, Michael and Molly McLain, Chaska; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Prior to retirement in 1982, Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, from 1942-1945. He taught school in Alden and St. Charles, MN, and the last 25 years in the Minnetonka School District. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post #409, Eden Prairie, and Post #0580 of Chanhassen. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie and will be remembered by his many wood projects throughout the church & his life. Bill will be sadly missed by his family, many relatives and friends. May he rest in peace. Memorial service at Immanuel Lutheran Church - 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie (2 blks N. of Hwy 5 on Co Rd 4) on Fri., Jan. 11 at 11 am. Private interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with grandchildren participating. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or Struther's Parkinson's Center, Golden Valley, MN. Arr.
