Ornelas Elvi, died unexpectedly in an auto accident while vacationing in Utah on December 29, 2002. Born in Tampere, Finland, Elvi served in the women's auxiliary (Lotta Svard) and as a wartime nurse before emigrating to the U.S. She resided in Minneapolis, MN working as a registered nurse at the University of Minnesota Hospital for many years. Preceded in death by husbands, Eino Toivio of Finland and Sovel Gonzales Ornelas of Minneapolis; parents, Yrjou and Hellin (Manner) Kupiainen; sisters, Eija Kuusisto and Aila Kupiainen and brother, Kaukko Kupiainen. Survived by brothers, Olli and Pekka Kupiainen of Finland; daughters, Yolanda Elizabeth Tuulikki (Ornelas) Brantley of Brooklyn Center, MN, and Kaarina Ornelas of Alameda, CA; many nieces and nephews; and her close friends. A wonderful adventurer, enthusiast of the outdoors and wildlife, she embraced life, was much loved and will be greatly missed. On Friday, January 10, 2003, friends may visit from 4-5pm at the Edina Chapel of the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue So., Edina, MN 55435; a service in celebration of Elvi's life will immediately follow at the same location at 5pm. The family has requested that remembrances be sent to the Animal Humane Society of Hennepin County, 845 Meadow Lane North, Golden Valley, MN 55422 or St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57326
