Meyer, Alice "Alicia" T. CSJ Consociate Died April 28, 2017. Alicia was born in Chicago, IL to Ben Franklin and Mary Connor Meyer on May 1, 1921. She was the fourth in a family of seven (six girls and one boy). She attended grade school in Chicago, and boarding school at St. Joseph's Academy in Tucson, Arizona. In 1939, she entered the Los Angeles Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952, and a Master of Science in Nursing in 1955, both from the University of California, Los Angeles. She served in the LA Province hospital system with a specialty in nursing education. In 1962 Alicia was among the first three sisters chosen to found the CSJ mission in Peru. She headed the School of Nursing at the Military Hospital in Lima, and was a consultant in Seminars sponsored by the United Nation's World Health Organization (WHO) in Central America. Alicia withdrew from the CSJ Congregation in 1968. She then worked full time with WHO in the Central American countries. In 1980 she took a position with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington D.C. until 1985 when she retired. In 1991, she moved to St. Paul and became a Consociate of the St. Paul Province of Sisters of St Joseph. Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Franklin and Mary Connor Meyer, and by five siblings Marjorie, Dorothy, Marion, Virginia, and her brother Ben. She is survived by one sibling, Helen Meyer Warren, who lives in California, by 19 nieces and nephews - four others pre-deceased her - and by many great and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom love her. She is also survived by the staff and residents of Carondelet Village, the caregivers of Symphony Senior Home Care, and the Sisters of St. Joseph and Consociates, St. Paul Province. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am, Tuesday, May 9, at Our Lady of the Presentation Chapel, 1884 Randolph Ave., St. Paul, MN, with Visitation at 10:00am preceding Mass, and burial at Resurrection Cemetery following lunch at Carondelet Center.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in support of St. Mary's Health Clinics. The Clinics are a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet that provides health care services to those who cannot access them elsewhere.
