Nehring, Lucille Janette (Olson) age 83, of Maple Grove, previously of Preston and Medina, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2017. She is preceded in death by hus band, Dr. John Nehring; parents, Ludwig and Marie Olson. She will be deeply missed by her children, Steve Allen (Trish), John Allen (Tamara Lorentz), Jeff Allen (Ann), Amy Kappler (Jonathan); grandchildren, Seth, Ashley, Amanda, Lucas, Jennifer, David, Benjamin, Cassandra, Nicholas, and Alexander; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Elaine Monhardt (Maurice); niece Joelle, nephews Noel, Jonathan, and Leigh; step children Mike Nehring (Jennifer), Kay Flynn (Scott); step grandchildren, Kristi, Jessie, Jenna, Ryan, Kyle, and Scott; 3 step great grandchildren; first husband Wayne Allen; her new extended family at Silvercreek on Main including her very special friend Dona; many relatives and good friends. She was born on March 10, 1934, in Duluth, MN. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1952, attended St. Olaf College, completed her Master's degree in education at the University of Minnesota. She taught language arts and social studies at Orono Middle School in Long Lake and continued after retirement as a substitute in Preston. She shared her passion for music with many piano students, including her children, grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. Lucille was active in her church homes; playing organ at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, alter guild and directing the bell choir at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, and a faithful parishioner at Maple Grove Lutheran Church. Her many hobbies included travel, camping, sewing, gardening, baking, and a variety of stitching projects, just to name a few. Lucille was a true disciple, she followed Jesus with heartfelt joy. She worshipped as a faithful servant and witness to His promise and now is with Him in paradise. Visitation 7-9 pm Monday, April 17th at Maple Grove Lutheran Church, 9251 Elm Creek Blvd., Maple Grove. Memorial Service 11am Tuesday, April 18 at Maple Grove Lutheran Church, with visitation Tuesday 1 hour before service. Celebration of life and interment at a later date in Preston.
