Maus, Joan Elizabeth (Deters) died March 28, 2017 in her Norfolk VA home, surrounded by family. She was born in Covington, KY, the daughter of the late Clemens and Cedora Deters. Joan was a graduate of La Salette Academy, Covington, KY in 1953, she also studied at Xavier University. Joan was married to James B. Maus on September 3, 1955 at the Basilica of The Assumption in Covington, KY. Joan was active in Catholic parishes and schools in various locations, in church choirs for 45 years and with a partner, opened and operated the Fairfield Wine and Cheese Co. in Lancaster, OH until a family move to Minneapolis, MN in 1981. After retirement she and Jim traveled extensively, rehabbed an original cottage in Longboat Key, Fl, and lived there before moving to Norfolk, VA in 2000. Joan was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband James B. Maus, seven children, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and her dog Bess.
