Hiepler, Marvin C. age 86, of Atwater died 3/24/2017 at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield. Memorial service 7:00 PM, Tuesday, 3/28/2017 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Marvin Charles Hiepler, the son of Otto and Marie (Boehnke) Hiepler, was born on October 1, 1930 in Arena Township, Minnesota. He grew up near Nassau and attended country school and began farming with his family at an early age. He married Jeanette Kriese on September 27, 1952 just before leaving for basic training. He served two years during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. After his service he returned to Minnesota and worked various jobs. They moved to the Twin Cities in 1956 and he began driving truck for Gateway in 1957. He married Marlene Peterson in May of 1975 and continued trucking. In 1984 they moved to Big Stone City in South Dakota where they owned and operated a motel. They moved to Atwater in 1995 and retired. Survived by children David Hiepler of Bloomington, Curtis (Melinda) Hiepler of Eden Prairie, Jeffrey (MaryLou) Hiepler of Bloomington, Marie (Tim) Thomas of Rosemount; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren: brother Virgil (Margaret) Hiepler and sister Lucille Sime.
