Bowman, Johanne May aged 84, died on March 11, 2017 at her home in Edina. Johanne was born on May 4, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Hazel B. Bader (Ritter) and Charles O. Bader. Jo attended school, and graduated from, Southwest High School in Minneapolis in 1950. She also attended classes at the University of MN. Jo spent the majority of her life living in MN. She loved being close to her family. Jo loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday and would spend hours picking out just the right card. She enjoyed watching them perform in their various sports events and school musicals. In 1952, Jo married her high school sweetheart, Donald Bowman. They were married for 32 years, and although they parted ways in 1984, they remained good friends until his death in 2004. In addition to raising 5 children, Jo worked at many interesting jobs. She did some advertising, accounting and public relations. She volunteered at AARP and Richfield Read-a-Story. Johanne thoroughly enjoyed sewing and alterations. She was an amazing cross-stitcher, sudoku puzzle solver and friend to many. Her not so little best friend, Finnigan, (Goldendoodle) brought her much joy and happiness over the last 5 years. Jo is survived by her brother, Edward Bader and his wife Ann, Plymouth, MN; son, Scott Bowman, Minneapolis; and daughters, Vicki (Adam) Stoll of Memphis, TN, Holli (Steve) Hawker of Chanhassen, MN and Buzzy (Mike) Anderson of Bloomington, MN; 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles, spouse, grandson, Christopher, and daughter, Terri. There will be a graveside service at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm. The family is hosting a celebration of life get together following the burial, at South Haven Apartments Community Room, 3400 Parklawn Ave. Edina from 3:30- 5:30 PM. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her, and those whom she called her friends.
