Bauer, Dieter Age 77, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born March 31, 1939, in Hambach-Schweinfurt, Germany, he came to the USA in 1959, with mother, Lotte Skovgaard and Step-Father, Joseph Skovgaard. He learned his painting profession in Germany and brought his highly sought after skills to Minnesota. Dieter enjoyed his customers and delighted in satisfying them with his talents. Dieter loved his family. He was a wonderful and fun, Dad, Opa, Brother, Husband and friend. They kept him happy, sharing school, sports, shopping and travel. His German childhood friends were lifelong, as were his friends thru Motorcycling, Snowmobiling, Boating on the St.Croix and on Minnetonka. He loved to travel, especially back to his homeland. For years, he was top pledger, riding Marathon's, to raise monies for March of Dimes and the MS Society. Dieter is preceded in death by his mother, Lotte Skovgaard, and his father Eduard Bauer. He is survived by sister: Edith Rein. Step-father: Joseph Skovgaard. Loving wife and partner of 38 years: Tracy Isle-Bauer, Son: Ralf (Birgit) Bauer. Daughters: Heidi (Gray) Snipes, Heather (Andrew) Rectenwal. Grandchildren: Drew & Lauren Rectenwal, Sara Bauer, and Spencer, Cooper & Chloe Snipes. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Nance of Struthers Parkinson's Center for helping navigate us through his illness. A very special Thank you to our Methodist Hospice Angel, Nurse Annie, for her wonderful care of Dieter and his family. And to Emily, Sheri, Lorre and the rest of the Hospice Group. A celebration of Dieter's Life will be Friday 3/31/2017 from 4:00 - 7:00pm at Gill Brothers Mortuary, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis. Please come and share a memory or story about Dieter.
