Bremner Alvena S. Bremner (Sweeney) 93, native of Wilmette, IL & most recently of St. Therese Home. Preceded in death by first husband, John A. Sweeney & second husband, Aloysious Bremner & step-son, Brian R. Bremner. Survived by son, Hugh A. (Susanne) Sweeney; grandchildren, Kevin (Barbara), Dennis (Kiyomi), Michael (Derenda), Kathleen (Christopher) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jack A. Sweeney, Henry P. Sweeney, Alexander P. Taylor; stepdaughter, Laurie (Anthony) Quirini & many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & friends. Alvena was the secretary to the Dean of the Liberal Arts College & later the secretary to the President of Northwestern University, Evanston, IL (1954-1973). She was the past president of Loyola University Women's Club, Chicago & a transcriber & volunteer for 12 years for the Hadley School for the Blind & active in other roles & charitable functions. She was a devout volunteer at St. Therese Home where she ran the library, was a lector & dedicated her time to visiting residents. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 10 am, Kapala-Glodek-Malone, 7800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope with visitation one hour prior. Intement All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
