Gilpin, Scott L. September 5, 1969 - January 14, 2017 We lost one of the good guys who touched all of our hearts. Our loving, fun and charismatic son, brother, cousin, father, uncle, and friend is survived by the mother of his children, Michelle Gilpin; sons, McCullough, Lucas and Dylan; mother, Daryl Gilpin; sisters, Valory Gilpin (John), Lana Gilpin and Lorra Alber; nieces and nephews, Skye (Nate), Sam, Sommer, Ivey, Beau, Anabelle and Leo, his beloved uncle Terry Gilpin; aunt, Neila Darnaby; cousins, Benjamin (Shori), Liz (Kent), Alexandra (Anthony) and Elise (Stephen) and his best friend, Scott Schults (Julie). Scott earned his Bachelors' degree from the University of St. Thomas, as well as, his Masters' degree from the University of Phoenix. Scott got his start with his career at Target, following in his father's footsteps. He then went on to Best Buy Corporation for many years to work nationally/globally opening stores throughout the world. His most recent adventure was starting a new career working for NLand Surf Park. Scott was known for being a great athlete and especially later in life enjoying snowboarding and surfing. He had a love for music. From the early to mid-90's, he was part of a very popular band, Big Backyard. He was a multi-talented musician & song writer playing the guitar, harmonica and piano. He sang as beautiful as any country singer and wrote many songs about life that he would share with family and friends often. He loved football, always staying loyal to his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. This is a tremendous loss for all. Services honoring Scott's life will be held 11 AM on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at Wayzata Community Church 125 Wayzata Blvd. East, Wayzata, Minnesota 55391. Following the service there will be a reception serving lunch and refreshments at the Wayzata Country Club, 200 Wayzata Blvd. Wayzata, Minnesota 55391 from 12:00pm 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for Scott's sons, McCullough, Lucas and Dylan's education fund. David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577 davidleefuneralhome.com
