Mavis Elaine Thompson

Thompson, Mavis Elaine Age 93, born 8/9/23 in Summit, SD. Passed 12/5/16 at Wedum Hospice Brooklyn Park, MN. Graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell SD, earned her Master's Degree from St. Cloud State University and taught English at Rockford MN High School. She loved playing Bridge and 500, had a passion for reading and embroidered table cloths, pillow cases and hand towels for family and friends. She kept alive the lost art of letter writing with a weekly list of recipients. Preceded in death by her husband, Harley, parents, William and Elizabeth Van Schaick, brother Durwood Van Schaick and great-grandson, Oliver Abbott. Survived by sister, Darlene Sturges of Columbia, MO; daughters, Darlene (Ron) Anderson, Elizabeth (Steve) Farber; sons, James (Nanette), Doug (Maggie); eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren with one on the way. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
