Funke, Mary Lou (née Dougherty) Passed away October 30, 2016, at age 87. Formerly of Hopkins and Edina. Born April 27, 1929, to Edward and Lyla Dougherty in Minneapolis, Minn. Preceded in death by ex-husband, Jim Funke. Survived by children, David Funke, Jean Laurent, Chris Funke and Liz Brown, and five grandchildren. Graduated from Marshall High School in 1947. She loved laughter, reading, football, theater, entertaining, travel, and spending time with family and friends. Inspired by her humble, Depression-era upbringing and Catholic faith, she was a lifelong champion of the poor and generously supported many charities over the years. She was a catechism instructor, reading tutor and receptionist, and dabbled in creative writing, painting and real estate. She lived a full and meaningful life. Private services.
