Weaver, James Lloyd Age 85, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully on September 29th, 2016 at home with his family. Jim was born in Gettysburg, South Dakota on October 13th, 1930. He grew up in Miller, South Dakota, and attended the University of South Dakota where he met his future wife, Ruth Ann Keeler. Ten days after his marriage to Ruth Ann on April 18th, 1953, he was shipped to Korea where he served honorably as a member of the U. S. Army's 6th Armored Division until his discharge on September 11, 1954. After returning from the war, Jim resumed his studies and earned a law degree from USD in 1956. He was soon hired by General Mills and moved his young family to Minneapolis where he went to work in labor relations. Jim spent his entire career at General Mills working in law and finance and was elected Vice-President and Treasurer of the Corporation in 1977. He retired in 1985 at the age of 55 after successfully overseeing a major divestiture of multiple businesses as the company returned to its historical roots as a food company. In retirement Jim was very active and spent many years travelling the world with his family and friends. He and his wife Ruth Ann loved seeing new places and meeting new people. They were patrons of the arts and especially loved the theatre, travelling to New York and London on many occasions to see Broadway shows and East End productions. He also loved to spend time at his condo on Lake Owen in Cable, Wisconsin where he had many friends. Jim was generous with his time and money. He served on the boards of many local businesses and organizations during his life including the Citizens League, the Minnesota Zoo, Remmele Engineering, the Cote Family Companies, and Stevens Square. He was a life long supporter of the University of South Dakota and he and Ruth Ann served for many years on the board of the USD Foundation. Jim had a great sense of humor and took an interest in everyone he met. He will be sorely missed. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann and older brother John Weaver. Survived by children Mark (Chom), Nancy (Billy), Mary (Chris), Lisa (Eric); grandsons James L.
