Garis, Steven J. Born December 6, 1947, died August 22, 2016 at the age of 68 in Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Ethel Garis; and wife Maryann. He is survived by step children Melissa Perry and Brian (Jane) Nelson. Steve was born in Austin, MN and spent his primary years in LeCenter, MN and then moved with his parents to California, graduating from Inglewood High School. After honorably serving in the Navy for 4 years, he attended and graduated from Mankato Technical College. Steve worked over the years as a software programmer and SAP specialist for EF Johnson Company, Hamm's and Olympia Breweries, Deluxe and ADC before retiring. He was a Boy Scout leader and volunteered at the US Armed Forces Service Center at the MSP Airport for many years. He also volunteered with Special Olympics. Steve loved fishing with his buddies, traveling, riding motorcycles and was fascinated with trains and airplanes. Steve will be missed. A gathering to celebrate Steve's life is planned for September 3 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, 800 West 66th St., Richfield, at Pizza Luce (downstairs). Private interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Waseca.
