Fortier, Catherine Ellen Passed away July 9, 2016. Born December 31, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN, Kate was a first grade teacher in the Deephaven school district for more than 30 years. She was an accomplished world traveler and always regaled those she knew and loved with her travel tales. She loved parties and any excuse to have one made her happy. With a pleasant disposition and hearty laugh, she will be missed dearly by family and friends alike. Preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Fortier, Sr; her mother, Catherine Agnes Fortier; her uncle, Martin Call; her aunt Mary Ellen Call, and her beloved brother, Charles Edward Fortier, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marguerite F. Rush, nieces and nephews Ann Marie Jaycox, Brenda Kay Fortier, David Charles Fortier, Christine Ellen Higgins, Elizabeth Jean Hartley, and John Edward Fortier; 13 great nieces and nephews, 15 great great nieces and nephews, and many other loving friends. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 4, 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, St. John Campus 6 Interlachen Rd, Hopkins. Visitation one hour prior. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Currie MN. Plants in lieu of flowers preferred for memorials.
