Ittel, Bernice Martha "Benny" Age 82, of Minnetonka. Passed away June 1st, 2016. Preceded in death by parents Harry and Martha Luebke and brother Gordon. Benny grew up near Waconia on a dairy farm; she was valedictorian of her 1951 Waconia graduating class. She attended Mankato State Teachers College and later graduated from the University of Minnesota. Benny had a long teaching career with the Hopkins School District that spanned from 1953 to 1995. She began teaching 2nd grade as well as other elementary grades and Special Education. She later spent several years substituting all grades and worked with Kids and Company. She has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins since 1953, and participated at different times in Choir, Sunday School teaching, Board of Education, Greeter, Nursery, Braille workers and Dinner at Your Door programs. Benny loved to travel, play tennis, play cards with her friends and most of all spend time with her family. Anyone who knew Benny knew she was a go-getter and a perfectionist who did not let much grass grow under her feet. Benny had a great sense of humor and enjoyed socializing with neighbors and friends. Survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Lowell; sons Jeff (Kelly) and Terry (Gina); grandchildren Ryan, Jack, Ross, Tayler and Eric Ittel, Brennen LaFore (Linsie) and great grandchild Summer; sister Lois Marsh. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 7th at Zion Lutheran Church - 241 5th Avenue North, Hopkins, MN 55343. Visitation at 10 AM.
