Haddox, Melanie Jane Age 62, died June 14, 2016 after several months of a complex neurological illness. She was born in Minneapolis and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She began work at Dayton's and continued in the Finance Division of Dayton's/Target for almost 40 years, most recently as Senior Systems Analyst. Her coworkers respected and appreciated Melanie as a knowledgeable teacher as well as a mentor and friend. Melanie had a strong sense of social justice and loved reading, gardening, the North Shore and especially the WNBA Minnesota Lynx. She was always looking for a new adventure and enjoyed attending theater and concerts. Melanie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survived by her partner of 21 years Suzanne Kennedy, sisters Janet Grones (Thomas), Jenifer Haddox (Lee Ashmore), Connie Haddox (Diane Grund) and Terese Haddox, sister in law Linda Haddox (Kenny Winkler), nephews Jamin Haddox (Jayneen), Jonathan Haddox (Kimsoth), Timothy Grones, niece Allison Haws (James), grandnieces Evelyn Haddox and Charlotte Haws and close friends from first grade Mary and Anne Dobbins. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Mari Haddox, brother Thomas Haddox II and nephew Aaron Haddox. A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 6 at 1:00 pm at First Congregational Church, 500 Eighth Ave. SE, Minneapolis. In honor of Melanie's legacy, memorials are suggested to your local professional theater company or social service agency.
