Schader, Nancy Leavenworth of Longmont, Colorado, passed away May 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 61. Nancy was born to Richard and Ann Leavenworth on March 1, 1953, and grew up on the shores of Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. She graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1971, and received a BA degree from Carleton College in 1975. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1982, and received her board certification in ophthalmology in 1988. In 1989 she married Robert Schader and moved to Boulder Colorado. Nancy was a third generation ophthalmologist, following in the footsteps of her father and grand- father. Until her retirement in 2013, she practiced medicine at Kaiser Permanente, where she was respect- ed and well-liked by her peers and patients. Nancy was active and outgoing, and devoted to her family. She enjoyed golf, tennis, sailing, cycling, travelling and reading. She was kind, wise and gracious, and touched the lives of many. She is survived by her husband, Robert Schader; her son, Richard Schader; her step-daughters, Heather Cowan and Stephanie Schader; her sisters, Suzie Freeman and Georgia Burton; and her mother, Ann Leavenworth. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Lung Cancer Alliance, or to The Humane Society of Boulder Valley. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colorado at 2 pm June 14, 2014. A reception will be held following the service at Fox Hill Country Club in Longmont, Colorado.
