Brobeck, Walter Robert "Bob" 9/20/1928 - 4/18/2014 Walter was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and served as 1st Lieutenant in the Korean War. He grew up in White Bear Lake, MN and moved his family to Norway in 1969. His alma mater was the University of Minnesota but he also did graduate studies at the University of Copenhagen. In addition, he attended the University of Oslo on a Fulbright Scholarship where he met his future wife Gerd in 1955. Walter went on to become a successful international business man, whose business encompassed the US, Europe, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and other areas of the world. After retirement, Walter and Gerd split their time between White Bear Lake, Minnesota and Asker, Norway. His travels and life journey made for hours of humorous stories. His laughter could be heard throughout the neighborhood. Walter is survived by his wife Gerd, granddaughters Emma and Tina Hagevang, his daughters Diana Hagevang and Melinda Brobeck, son in law Kirk Solberg, and other family and many friends throughout the world. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter L and Malinda H Brobeck and his brother James. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Wednesday, April 23 at 10:15 am. The family will have a celebration of Walt's life on Saturday April 26th at the VFW Post 1782 in White Bear Lake from 11 am-3 pm.
