Amberg, Eleanor T. age 94, of Edina, passed away January 27, 2014. Born January 19, 1920 in Bird Island, MN. Preceded in death by her parents Longin and Amanda Amberg, brother Richard Amberg and sister-in-law Mary. Survived by loving sister Annette Link; brother-in- law Ardwin Link; nieces and nephews Colleen Gillard (Greg), Tom Link (Mary), Fred Link, Brian Link (Holly), Deanne Patch (Neil), Gary Link (Maribeth), Teresa Binish (Joseph); 16 great nieces and nephews; numerous relatives and friends. Eleanor attended St. Mary’s grade school and high school in Bird Island MN for 12 years graduating in 1937, the College of St. Catherine's in 1941 with a Chemistry major, interned in Kansas City and earned her medical technologist degree. She spent 6 years at Broadlawn's Hospital of Des Moines, Iowa as Chief Technologist. She was employed by Minneapolis War Memorial Blood Bank as Chief Technologist until retirement in 1985. Eleanor was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Edina and an active member of Legion of Mary. She enjoyed traveling, golf, playing bridge and family gatherings with nieces and nephews. Memorials preferred to St. Patrick’s of Edina or St. Mary’s of Bird Island, MN. A Mass celebrating Eleanor's life will be held Saturday, February 1 at 11 AM at the Church of St. Patrick, Valley View at Gleason Road, Edina with reviewal at 10 AM preceding the Mass.
