Rude, Joyce Audrey A voracious reader, fond of giving advice but never taking any, loving wife, daughter, mother, grand- and great-grandmother, Joyce Audrey Elliott Rude, 92, passed away on November 8, 2013 in Sun City West, Arizona after just returning from her summer home in Lake Shore, Minnesota. Born in Minneapolis July 12, 1921, Joyce grew up in South Minneapolis where she graduated from South High in 1939, spending much of her time at Lake Nokomis and Powderhorn Park. She was a speedskater, camp waterfront director, and occasional butcher. She was a staunch Democrat and volunteer at hospitals in Sun City West and Scottsdale. Joyce was preceded in passing by her husband James G. Rude, spending many summers at Gull Lake and winters in Arizona with him, and then with family after he passed. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Janis and Roger Fischbach of Excelsior, son and daughter-in-law James and Lynn Rude of Eden Prairie, grandchildren Christopher (Katie), Jason (Melissa), and Michael (Alida) Fischbach and Lisa and Thomas Rude, along with six great-grandchildren: Louis, Annabelle, Linnea, Cameron, Adam, and Greta Fischbach. There will be a private graveside service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
