Severson, Dean Keith age 76, passed away October 21, 2013 at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston, MN. He was born January 7, 1937 in Minneapolis to Roy and Virginia (Harper) Severson, the second of three sons. Dean graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955, served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957. He married Marcia Mortenson in 1958 and to them were born three sons, Todd, Keith and Joel. After nine years as an iron worker, Dean joined the Minneapolis Police Department, serving for 20 years, retiring in 1989. He had become an avid runner, completing 16 marathons. After living in Minneapolis, then Minnetonka and Eden Prairie, then moving to the country near Hallock, Minnesota, he and Marcia wintered near Yuma, Arizona for 23 years. Singing, hunting, golfing and gardening kept him active even after diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease in 2007, until it took its toll and ended his life on this earth. He is survived by Marcia, his wife of 55 years, three sons and their families and two brothers, Dale and Darrel. Memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Red River Lutheran Church, rural Kennedy, Minnesota. Arrangements by Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock MN.
