Clapp, David A. age 73, passed away at home in Maple Grove, MN on June 17, 2013. He was born on October 14, 1939 in Madison, Wisconsin to Norman and Analoyce Clapp, growing up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. and Lancaster, Wisconsin. After 4 years of service in the US Navy, David graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison undergraduate (1965) and law (1968) schools. He had a distinguished career in law, working both in private practice and in government. From 1976 to 1984 he was Price County Circuit Court Judge in Phillips, Wisconsin. Later in Minneapolis he served as Administrative Law Judge, first for the Social Security Administration and then for the Department of the Interior. David was a friendly and goodhearted conversationalist to young and old. David‘s wealth of knowledge and humor will be sorely missed by those who were lucky enough to chat with him. He is survived by brothers, William Clapp and Douglas Clapp; children, Alice (Scott) Opdyke and Matthew Clapp; stepdaughter, Michelle Ihli, and granddaughter, Hillary Opdyke. David was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret Clapp, and by second wife, Karen Ihli. A graveside memorial service will take place at 1:30 PM October 10, 2013 at Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster, Wisconsin followed by a brief gathering of friends and family at the Lancaster Country Club. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials to honor David can be made to your local National Public Radio station.
