Hankes, Elmer Joseph May 30 1913 to Dec. 27 2012. Survived by daughter, Camilla; son-in-law, Terry; and grandson, Evan. Preceded in death by wife, Barbara; his mother, Camille; father, Joseph; and siblings, Lester, Emily, Edwin and Valentine. Elmer was born in Chicago and moved to Mpls in the 1940's. A mechanical engineer by training, his accomplishments included a variety of inventions and entrepreneurial ventures including the invention and design of the machines used to score standardized tests. His interests included music, poetry, the origin of the universe and the design of a universal language. Always a man of science, he donated his body to the University of Minnesota. Elmer liked to point out that he was in his 100th year! Happy 100th Birthday Daddy D!
