Furlong, William Michael Bill, died on April 7, 2013 with his Irish cap on, listening to Bob Dylan, in the arms of his wife. He died in his 67th year. Preceded in death by parents William and Rosemary Furlong. Survived by the woman he loved for over 50 years, his wife Joanne. Also survived by his cherished daughter, Katie Edwards, and his son-in-law and best friend, Joshua Edwards, his beautiful granddaughters Ava and Estella, his sister and brother-in-law, Jody and Roger Lawler, his sister Cynthia Furlong, brother-in-law John Jagiela and sister-in-law Helena Jagiela. Bill belonged to the Former Texas Rangers Assn. and the American Legion. Bill was a Vietnam Navy Veteran, who served on the USS John R Perry. He spent most of his life in the car business. Bill was a great salesman. It was said, "He could charm the pants off you, and sell them back for three times as much!" Multiple Sclerosis struck when he was 37 years old. Bill lived by a quote from John Wayne, "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway." Bill was a courageous, handsome, good man who saddled up again and again, as MS took more and more. Our family wishes to thank the VA Medical Center, our second home for 12 years, for their exceptional care and compassion always. Memorials preferred in Bill's name to Minnesota Paralyzed Veterans of America, 1 Veterans Dr. SCI-Room 238, Minneapolis, MN 55417. Bill requested no service. He asked that you celebrate his life recollecting a story or a memory, whisper a prayer, and tip a glass of Glenlivet.
