Mestitz, Julia Died at age 89. Julia Kiss Mestitz was born of Hungarian heritage in Koronka, Romania to Margit Madaras and Antal Kiss. Her parents, brother Ernö Kiss, and her beloved husband Andrew preceded her in death. She is survived by loving relatives: son Steven Mestitz, daughter-in-law Peggy Naas, grandchildren Michael and Lauren Mestitz, niece Anna Mestitz and nephew Carlo Mestitz of Bologna, Italy, sister-in-law Marta Kiss, and extended family in Hungary, Romania, Italy, and Israel. Julia graduated as a teacher, but found she loved the beauty business and trained as an esthetician. She worked and lived in Maros-vasarhely, Hungary (now Tirgu Mures, Romania), Bologna, Italy, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1961 with Andrew and Steve. She worked in several salons in Minneapolis, MN, including the Oval Room at Dayton's, Gino's, Rocco Altobelli, Urban Retreat, and Spa Bella. She loved her clients, many of whom became longtime friends. Julia was an energetic, fun, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a talented cook, always willing to throw wonderful dinner parties and host family holidays. She was often in the kitchen, delighting in new recipes and her many delicious family favorites. Her infectious smile and laugh remained even after suffering from progressive aphasia and Alzheimer's dementia. When she could no longer speak, she would communicate her love and caring by holding hands and patting one's arm while looking us in the face and smiling or laughing. Special thanks to her great Assisting Hands Homecare caregivers for their loving and steadfast care, as well as her HealthPartners Nurse Practitioner and Hospice team. We remember her advice, delivered in her wonderful Hungarian accent: To avoid marital discord: "Keep shut up" and "Don't kill each other." To keep from worrying: "Don't think." She was loved by so many, and is greatly missed. At Julia's request, no service is planned.
