Connolly, Mary Michael Age 69, of Minneapolis passed away on May 19th from injuries sustained in a fall. Born on June 6th, 1946 to Charlotte Newell and Patrick Lawrence Connolly, Mary Michael was a graduate of Northrop Collegiate School, and Dominican College of San Rafael. Mary Michael taught junior and senior high school English for 15 years in the Minneapolis Public Schools. She also served for 15 more years as an assistant principal for MPS before retiring in 2005. Mary Michael loved to read and study history, especially the Civil Rights movement. Not noted for her driving skills, Mary Michael loved to get behind the wheel and thought nothing of going on road trips by herselfonce driving over 6,000 miles solo. She also drove nearly every weekend to Stockholm WI, where she owned a charming Victorian home overlooking the shores of Lake Pepin. She loved Stockholm and spent countless hours reading, playing Scrabble and other board games, and socializing with an adored circle of friends. Mary Michael prided herself on always remembering dates, whether it was someone's birthday, wedding anniversary or when someone had moved into a new home. Mary Michael had many friends and she loved socializing. An eccentric at heart, her family and friends loved her clever sense of humor. A lover of grammar rules, and all rules, she always corrected people when they called her Mary. Her correct name was, and always will be, Mary Michael. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maureen Connolly; nephew Allison Mercer; niece Mary Michael Larsen. She is survived by her loving family, sister Sheila Morgan (John) Minneapolis; brothers, Larry Connolly (Ellen), Roswell NM, Tim Connolly, Minneapolis; seven nieces and nephews, twelve grandnieces and grandnephews, and her special friend John O'Leary, St Paul.
