Berscheit, Kari Lynn (nee Bongard) age 55 of Deephaven, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving family on Jan. 11, 2013 after her courageous 3 year battle with ovarian cancer. Kari was also a 21 year breast cancer survivor. Preceded in death by her mother, Doris (Nechas) Bongard. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Richard; daughter Natalie (Troy) Keller; son Luke (Kate) Berscheit; her precious grandsons Niko (6), Wyatt (3) and Jax (1); father Harry Bongard; brothers Mark Bongard and Brian (Betsy) Bongard and many nieces, nephews, cousins and her overwhelming support network of friends. She graduated from Eden Prairie High School and later traded in her dental career to become a loving full-time mother. She looked forward to seeing her kids grow up and attended many hockey, baseball and softball games. She loved family vacations, traveling and her trip to Europe in 2012. In her spare time she volunteered many hours at The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer in Orono. In 2005, for their 25th wedding anniversary, Kari and Richard bought a Harley-Davidson touring motorcycle. She enjoyed taking the motorcycle on many rides and trips, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally twice. In March of 2006 she became a Grammy and loved spending time with and spoiling all three of her grandsons. Kari had many close friends and looked forward to the girl's weekends and seeing her "Book Friends Forever" group. We will always remember her laugh, smile and need for perfection. Kari lived her life with dignity, faith and hope that never failed her. Kari's favorite quote was, "The purpose of life, is a life of purpose" - Robert Byrne.
