Lally, Patrick Hollister Age 80, on Nov. 4, 2012. Born in Green Bay, WI, to Ethel Hollister and C.J. Lally, he earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1954. After service in the U.S. Army in Germany, Patrick returned to Notre Dame for his Master's in English in 1956. He attended the University of Minnesota for his doctoral work in American Studies. Dad was a professor of English at the University of St. Thomas, where he also coached the men's tennis team. He enjoyed Mark Twain, William Faulkner, cigars, sailing, and tennis, but his greatest enjoyment was his family, especially his eight grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (Gleason); four children, John (Susan Lynch), Joseph, Brigid (Erik) Gustafson, and Jane (Jon) Montei; grandchildren, Keira and Patrick Lally, Grace and Sara Lally, Jane and Kate Gustafson, and Andrew and Crosby Montei. Also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Shirley) Lally and William Lally, and special cousin Dr. Teresa Quinn. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Assumption, 51 West 7th St, St. Paul, MN 55102 at 10 AM Thursday, November 8. Visitation one hour prior to Mass.
