Bryan, Elizabeth "Betty" Age 94, of Friendship Village, Bloomington, passed away peacefully October 23, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Vivian Marie Carter and her brothers, Donald and Roy Carter. Betty is survived by nephew, Steve (Debbie) Carter and nieces, Kathy Carter and Candace Brindley. She is also survived by cousin, Pat Carter, Nicolas Carter, and many other family members and friends. Betty earned her Master's Degree in Education at the University of Minnesota and was principal of Northrup Collegiate School (Later Blake School) from 1950 until her retirement in 1980. She took great pride in nurturing her students. Betty passionately volunteered and supported many causes including nature conservation and social justice issues. She was an avid dancer, gardener, and birder, and traveled extensively during her lifetime, including a trip to visit the polar bears in northern Canada when she was in her 80's. Betty also loved and supported the arts, theater, music, and her church where she was a member for over 70 years. Betty will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave. So., Minneapolis on Friday, November 9th at 11 AM with lunch to follow. Visitation at the church one hour prior to service. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
