Diethelm, Paul Oscar Passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012. Oscar as he was known to most people, was born on January 30, 1927 in Steckborn, Switzerland. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Reformed Church In Steckborn. Oscar attended grade school and high school in Steckborn. He then did a farming apprenticeship followed by two years at an Agriculture College in Areneberg, Switzerland. Oscar served in the Swiss Army until he emigrated to the U. S. in December of 1950. Prior to leaving Switzerland he became engaged to Ruth Isler. Ruth emigrated to the U.S. in January 1952 and they were married on January 19, 1952 in the Methodist Church in Oconomowoc, WI. Later that year they moved to Seymour, WI where Oscar ran a Large Dairy farm for a Green Bay Doctor. During this time they had two boys, Rudy and Joe. In 1957 Oscar gave up farming and went to work in the electronics industry in Seymour. In 1963 they moved to Buffalo, MN and Oscar began a 27 year career with Buhler Corporation in Minneapolis. Oscar loved horses and had two of his own for many years, which he rode regularly on the country roads near Pelican Lake. Oscar retired in 1990 and began doing wrought iron work and wood carvings as hobbies. He and Ruth traveled regularly back to Switzerland to visit family and to spend time in the Alps. Oscar is survived by his wife Ruth, son Rudy (Mary) of Wichita, KS and Joe (Luanne) of Buffalo, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grand children. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church-Pelican Lake located on Wright County Hwy. 35 between Buffalo & St. Michael.
